Disgruntled ‘Bama fan hurls brick at Saban’s window
Brick hits off security glass, knocks fan unconscious
TUSCALOOSA, Al. (AP) –
In only his first year, Nick Saban had Alabama a few minutes away from a likely berth in the SEC Championship game.
Apparently, that wasn’t enough.
On Monday a disgruntled Alabama fan, unhappy with the Crimson Tide’s 41-34 loss to LSU, hurled a brick at Saban’s window. A brick that shot right back to hit him. In the face.
Due to the security glass installed in the coach’s office, the brick that 34-year old Alabama fan Rex Spectations hurled at Saban’s office came hurling right back. And it knocked Spectations unconscious.
It seems that, even when he’s not coaching, Saban has a plan for everything.
According to athletic department sources, immediately after his hire, Saban – aware of the passion that ignites the Alabama fan base – had reinforced polycarbonate security glass installed in all the athletic department offices.
“I’m not gon’ focus on it, aight,” said Saban. “When we were hired, we looked at it, and we felt like it was something, as a coaching staff, aight, that we wanted to do. But we’re focused on Mississippi State. Aight, and what we gotta do, aight, as a football team to get over a tough loss and go play an SEC football team. And (the fan) learned his lesson, aight, relative to getting boomeranged in the face with a brick.”
Spectations was arrested and charged with two counts of felony criminal mischief. The brick was cleared of all wrongdoing.
