When it comes to the world of Forrest Gump, many know the character "Bubba" as the gentle soft-spoken loveable black character from the 1994 film. Others know him as the rough-and-tumble, football-playing, red-hair-and-freckles white character from the 1986 novel. But few know that, during production on the 1994 film, there was a little-known - and ultimately unsuccessful - casting of "Bubba," who was initially played by Samuel L. Jackson.
In these unaired Forrest Gump audio clips, Bubba gives off a wise-cracking, profane, take-no-prisoners attitude, as only Sam can deliver.
The clips feature short audio outtakes from the filming of the movie. In the first clip, Bubba and Forrest play football for the Alabama Crimson Tide. In the second clip, the duo moves on to Army training camp. And in the third and final clip, they make the move to combat in the Vietnam War.
